About Us
Compota de Manana is one of the most avant-garde and ambitious bands in the current European music scene. With its unique identity and originality as its hallmark, it has become much more than just a Latin music band. Erik Castillo, singer, composer, and percussionist, is the leader and creator of this artistic movement where creativity, aesthetics, and audiovisuals link together into a fun and transgressive musical proposal unlike any other.
The release of their first album, “La Alternatimba” in 2018 was met with spectacular acclaim. During the project’s early years, the group toured Spain and Europe, performing at some of the most important festivals on the continent, such as Couleur Café Festival, Festival Toros y Salsa de Dax, FIC in Orange, the black music festival “Say It Loud,” and in iconic venues like Café Berlín and Sala Villanos in Madrid, or Sala Apolo in Barcelona, selling out most shows and receiving rave reviews from the international press, including the prestigious Le Monde of Paris and El Periódico de Catalunya.
After the release of their first album, Compota had a two-year break as Erik Castillo, the band’s director, and several Compota de Manana members joined Nathy Peluso’s band for her world tour, performing at major festivals like Coachella in L.A., Quilmes Rock and Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, WiZink Center and Sónar in Spain, and Ceremonia in Mexico, playing to thousands of people and gaining the experience and maturity needed to bring back to the project of their lives: Compota de Manana.
During Nathy Peluso’s tour, Erik and Compota continued to work and released several singles, collaborating with major artists like Original Elías, Alexander Abreu, and Big Lois.
On March 12, they released their new album, “Cuestión de Tiempo.” This latest work is full of top-tier collaborations. Mayito Rivera, Alexander Abreu, El Niño y la Verdad, Telmary Díaz, and two-time Goya winner Yerai Cortés are just some of the names featured on “Cuestión de Tiempo.” Sixteen brand new tracks, all written and produced by Compota de Manana. Erik Castillo, Manu Masaedo, and Kevin Díaz form the perfect trio to once again deliver the concept they’ve been developing since 2018, Alternatimba in all its essence.
As always, most of the new productions are accompanied by a music video, produced and conceptualized by Erik Castillo. Not only will you be surprised by the videos, musical quality, or innovation in this new project, the sound of this album is beastly. The final touches were handled by sound giants: mixed in Havana by renowned engineer and Latin Grammy winner Orestes Águila, and Javier Raez, a newly Latin Grammy-nominated engineer, and mastered in Miami by one of the current legends of Latin sound and also a Latin Grammy winner, Germán Landaeta.
Time…do with it what you will. We choose to spend it making the album we had always dreamed of, “Cuestión de Tiempo”
