About Us

Compota de Manana It is one of the most avant-garde and ambitious bands in the current European music scene. With its own seal and originality as its flag, it has become much more than just a Latin music band. Erik Castillo, singer, composer and percussionist, is the leader and creator of this artistic movement where creativity, aesthetics and audiovisuals put the link to a fun and transgressive musical proposal like few others.

The release of their first album "La Alternatimba" in 2018 was spectacularly received. Solar Latin Club, one of the most important Latin music blogs, included this album in the list of the twenty best of 2018. During the first two years of the project, Compota de Manana toured Spain and Europe playing in some of the most important festivals and venues on the continent, such as the Toros y Salsa festival in Dax, FIC in Orange, the black music festival Say It Loud or the emblematic venues Café Berlin in Madrid or Sala Apolo in Barcelona. Having sold out in most concerts, the band received great reviews from the international press, including prestigious newspapers like Le Monde or El Periódico de Cataluña.

In 2020 the music industry was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the band had to cancel their tour and all the audiovisual projects they had prepared for that year.

Despite the difficulties of making music in those conditions, they remained creative and released the singles "Raro" and "Baja la Velocidad", featuring BigLois, and the Live "Arrímate" together with La Sra. Tomasa, where they merged both bands to give us a spectacular proposal based on timba and rap.

At the beginning of 2021 Compota becomes part of the band of the artist Naty Peluso. When such opportunity arises, they temporarily stop activities to focus on this new project and defend the Latin Grammy winning album "Calambre".

With Naty Peluso, they travel around the world performing 50 concerts in almost two years, playing in festivals as important as Coachella in Los Angeles, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Ceremonia in Mexico, Sonar, or the three sold out shows at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires and Chile.

In December 2022 they release the new single "De Moda”, with one of the most important figures of Cuban music: Alexander Abreu.

This single marks the beginning of what will be the new adventure of Compota de Manana: their new album "Cuestión de Tiempo”. Coming out in 2024, it will include spectacular collaborations with Original Elías, Telmary Díaz and many other surprises. Ready for the tour? The band has already closed dates in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, France and Argentina. Don't worry, Compota coming to your city is just a matter of time!
